OSU Early Childcare and Education
- Melinda Miller, Principal Engineer
- Peter Allen, Senior Acoustical Engineer
ABD Engineering & Design worked with Rowell Brokaw on the remodel of OSU’s early childcare and education Azalea House. Rowell Brokaw writes, “Several structural columns have been transformed into ‘trees,’ with green, acoustic panels forming the canopy overhead. A tree-lined interior hallway offers shelves and tackable acoustic wall panels to display kids’ art.”
Oregon State University’s Azalea House was founded in 1952 as a women’s cooperative residence, and Since 2017, has been home to the Azalea Childcare Center.
ABD’s acoustical consulting services addressed room acoustics for the childcare spaces through computer modeling, and noise isolation to limit airborne and impact noise through the first-second floor/ceiling.
