- Melinda Miller, Principal Engineer
ABD Engineering and Design was brought in by The Architectural Group to provide detailed architectural acoustics and room isolation recommendations for the new Country Inn and Suites in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The hotel has 150 guest rooms, pool, hot tub, exercise rooms, and three large meeting rooms. Hotel pools are notorious for having terrible acoustics, but our professional engineers were up for the challenge. A new porous, wall material was added to the pool room ceiling and upper walls. The treatment is durable, moisture resistant, and aesthetically pleasing, but most importantly, it gives the hotel guests a fantastic acoustical environment for enjoying the pool.
