Grand Rapids Community College

Main Building

This renovated facility enhanced the student admission process in a bright and cheery environment. However, the lack of acoustical treatment meant that the activity in the facility was very noisy and distracting. Acoustics By Design was retained to evaluate the existing conditions and recommend acoustical treatment that achieved the acoustical goals of noise reduction and speech privacy while maintaining the daylighting and open aesthetics of the space.

Project Highlights:

  • Visible information assistance area and prominent historical entrance.
  • Improved the experience of the student through admission, financial aid applications, testing, advisement, referral, self-serve technology, and registration process.
  • Create a student focused, flexible, effective, and efficient learning environment meeting the needs of new and returning students.
