Grand Valley State University

Lake Ontario Hall

Acoustics By Design was brought in by Design Plus to provide recommendations for architectural acoustics in the newly constructed, Lake Ontario Hall, on the campus of Grand Valley State University.  In particular, there was a concern that mechanical rooms located below large classrooms would create a troublesome acoustical environment.  Mitigation efforts resulted in a facility that exceeded all expectations.  In addition, a media room for digital communication students was designed to create a superb listening environment that did not impact the other surrounding classrooms.  This 53,000 SF project was completed in August 2005 with a final construction cost of $8,028,000. The project received the Silver Rating for LEED Certification in 2005.
